Happy Birthday America

Happy 4th of July! Isabelle saw her first fireworks show tonight! She pointed up at the sky and would whisper, "ooooh." Pretty darn cute.

Tonight is our last night in Florida. I'm pretty sad to say bye to my parents but ready to head on home. Crossing my fingers for a smooth plane ride!

summer lovin'

what I'm loving so far this summer:
  1. No classes at all...though I am itching to just get school over and done with
  2. Iced soy chai tea lattes, please
  3. Having time to read more. just finished the Fifty Shades trilogy!
  4. Pool time with baby girl
  5. Seeing Isabelle loved on by Grandma & Grandpa...gonna be sad when we go back home
  6. Iron & Wine and Mumford & Sons stations on Pandora to accompany me through the day
  7. Colored skinnies & pops of neon
  8. Fresh blueberries & blackberries
  9. A DVR full of summer shows
  10. Florida sunshine & even Florida thunderstorms

This will probably be my very last summer off in a who knows how long so I'm going to try and take advantage of it as much as I can. So far its been pretty chill (well aside from toddler tantrums heh) but I definitely want to get into productivity mode for the rest of summer! Hope everyone else's summer has been grand so far. Love & joy to you all!

my free little bird

Isabelle had such a big day! First, my parents and I took her to a little place in Boca Raton called Playtown Cafe where she got to explore, play, and observe other kids. In the second photo you can see her sharing a ball with another baby she met, so sweet! Then later we stopped by the beach. It was Isabelle's first time ever, and she loved it! She wasn't afraid of the water at all and was just running across the sand enjoying herself. She would raise her arms up excitedly and I would just think, She's my free, brave little bird. I can't wait to take her back!

florida

Last night Isabelle and I arrived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL to spend some time with my parents this summer. I was terrified the whole day before we boarded the plane as I imagined myself being the mom with the screaming baby on board, but to my surprise Isabelle did really good on the 2 hour flight! She fell asleep on my shoulder before we took off and only had a crying fit for about 3 minutes before we landed. I was so relieved! I'm hoping the return flight will go just as smoothly.

Our first day here consisted of exploring the area, my mom loving on her grand baby, and of course my mom trying to put some meat on my bones :) The rain kept us away from spending time at the beach, but I did snap a photo as we passed by.

Even though part of me is missing home already, I can't deny there are many perks that come with being under the same roof as my parents again. For one, I haven't had to wash any bottles or dishes so far! Also, it's been nice having my own personal chauffeur (mom). And of course it's always nice having eager hands to help out with Isabelle. She has really taken to her grandma and grandpa, which warms my heart :)
